  4.             SUMMARY OF STATE LIVING WILL LEGISLATION

  8. Synopsis: Maine has a strong living will statute. Under the
  9. Maine statute, a living will validly executed under another
  10. state's laws will be recognized by Maine. If a patient has
  11. executed a living will, it is to be made a part of the patient's
  12. medical records. A physician/hospital which does not want to
  13. effectuate a living will must take all reasonable steps to 
  14. transfer the patient. To prepare a Maine living will using the 
  15. state suggested form, please select living will preparation from
  16. the opening menu. Remember that the publisher recommends 
  17. preparing a "uniform" living will in addition to the form 
  18. suggested with by the State of Maine. Please also consider 
  19. executing a living will for any State that you spend more than a 
  20. few weeks per year, or where you are a temporary resident.

  38. the declarant is able to communicate an intent to revoke";
  39. In addition, a separate writing revoking the same is effective 
  40. and the living will can be revoked by physical destruction of the
  41. same.
